Members' Evening
Our October meeting started with the usual enthusiastic singing of 'Jerusalem', even though we were rather depleted in numbers. Two outings reports followed, one from the council meeting and the second from a visit to Hoar Cross WI. Many of the members are not able to attend the council meetings so the report is a great opportunity for them to hear about the day and the speaker's .The visit to Hoar Cross WI had been an enjoyable evening as they had a speaker from' Pets as Therapy' accompanied by two very adorable Labradors, who stole the show!
The Beryl Behague Community Friendship Tea was discussed, and volunteers were sought for cake baking and helping on the day. Dates for Book, Craft and Scrabble groups were announced, together with other dates for diaries, which included the annual carol service at Lichfield Cathedral and a Christmas Flower Arranging Demonstration.
Our President Penny Bailey commits an enormous amount of time to Yoxall WI, despite having many other family and village commitments. As a huge thank you our Treasurer Ann Slim presented Penny with a WI Presidents Badge. We hope she wears it for many more years to come!
With no speaker booked for this meeting we spent the evening' quizzing'. With wine to drink and crisps and savouries to nibble on, the first game was enthusiastically tackled. Each small group was given an animal, that they had to draw, in sections, and not in the obvious order you would normally use. The result was some very hilarious looking hippos, elephants and gorillas. Several picture quizzes followed and a cryptic quiz on trees. Everyone seemed to enjoy this casual style of meeting with plenty of opportunity to chat and use a bit of brain power.
We have a speaker next meeting on Wednesday 9th November. It will be Tina Adams giving a Flower Demonstration, with the arrangements being raffled as prizes. This promises to be a lovely evening. Visitors are very welcome and we meet in Yoxall Parish Hall at 7.30pm. Further details can be obtained from Penny Bailey through the link below.
